It is the time for electoral reform in Canada. Only 3 countries are still using the First Past the Post system…. UK, US and us.
We have a majority government elected by less than 40% of the people who voted…. ramming through legislation against the wishes of the 60% of Canadians who voted for another party.
We have the threat of another Separatist majority in Quebec where the majority of Quebeckers voted for a federalist party.
We believe that we need a ‘Made in Canada’ version of proportional representation. It is clear that Canadians are uncomfortable with a system in which extra MP’s are chosen by the party brass who determine who ends up on the ‘list’.
Many believe that the Liberals, NDP and Green Party should agree upon a fairer system …. and all 3 parties put that into their platform for the 2015 Election.
